Raleigh, North Carolina; Day 1

We satisfied ourselves with the state of our timber farm in Chapin, South Carolina (everything is growing fine) and moved on to see friends and relatives in Raleigh, North Carolina.

As part of his post-surgery process, Brian needs to exercise each day. Today he walked downtown Columbia, South Carolina which is a very pleasant city and is home to both the capital and a major university.

The kids got a full school day in so we didn’t get to Raleigh until after dark. Brian and Tiffany have been friends with Troy and Lynn for 25 years. We all worked together in Cincinnati in the late 1990s. Like us they have 2 boys and a girl. Their 3 kids are about 6 years older than our 3 kids.

It is always great to spend time with friends that have known you through different periods of your life. Their perspectives are always so insightful. Especially now that we all have kids and have accumulated additional wisdom.

Lynn cooked some delicious home-made Chicken Parmesan (not shown below) which the kids loved and Troy served some Basil Haden’s which Brian loved (proudly shown below).

The kids were in heaven at Lynn & Troy’s house because they have a dedicated game room with Pop-a-Shot, Foosball, and billiards. They played all of these games and had to be dragged into bed for a good night’s rest.

We have another school day tomorrow but we will likely have room for another game or 2 tomorrow.
