Crete, Greece; Day 3

Hey everyone! Today Suaram (me) is writing the post, and I have to say, we didn’t even do that much. Today was just a well-earned day of rest and relaxation after some hard work (like exploring palace ruins).

First of all, I should introduce where we’re staying and why we did not spend the day walking in the hot sun around random temples. It’s because we’re staying in an all-inclusive resort with a beautiful view of the Aegean Sea. It spills down a hill from the lobby to the beach – lots of steps, lots of views, including a nice one from our rooms it turns out.

That water is just begging to you, isn’t it? But the Sea wasn’t the only body of water in this resort. There were also five pools (an indoor pool, two outdoor swimming pools, a waterslide pool, and a kiddie pool). And we decided to hit all six water bodies in one day with the Six Body of Water Challenge.

After a delicious breakfast at an all-inclusive buffet (oh, that was yesterday, today we slept in) we decided to head top to bottom, with the indoor pool first and the Aegean sea last.

Our first pool – the indoor lap pool. Not much to say about this one, other than that we had a swimming contest and I totally won.

And if you’re wondering where Mom is in any of the six pool photos, she’s taking the picture. So, no selfies.

After we got out, we headed outside to the waterslide pool, our second pool of the day. Turns out it’s not actually that deep. With some persuasion, Mom and Dad reluctantly went into the two-feet-deep kiddie water.

The left waterslide, where CreeperPuppy is holding on for dear life, has clearly working water jets, but the right waterslide, where I am, does not. There was a lot of scooting yourself if you wanted to slide down that one.

We headed down the hill to the third pool. This was one of the two outdoor swimming pools, and it just happens to be right next to where we ate. It’s the closest pool to our hotel room, and also typically the most crowded.

After that pool, we decided to take advantage of the proximity and eat some lunch.

Of course, the lunch buffet was good. We remain big fans of hotel buffets. And the L stands for lunch. It also stands for the fifth pool we’ll be swimming in. (which is shaped like an L)

The fourth pool was literally a kiddie pool. And as you can see from my facial expression, I did not enjoy it.

Mom and Dad had similar opinions on the pool, so we spent two minutes in this pool overall. Then we headed down to the L-shaped pool right next to it. I guess the L at lunch foreshadowed the pools to come. And as a fictional writer, I believe coincidences are weird.

We kids quickly found a diving spot to totally jump in the water, and Dad got the brunt of it in this picture.

We were not hanging there forever. Eventually, we decided to put Dad out of his misery:

Anyway, we hit the final body of water, the biggest one in Greece. The Aegean Sea!

The beach is very disappointing. It’s just a slab of concrete. Nevertheless, we had to go in.

Why did we save the beach for last? It was freezing! But it’s the final Water Body, so, without further ado…

I promise, this is our last one of these. And yes, Mom got in all 6 too, even the freezing one.

After the sea, our day dwindled to a close quickly. CreeperKitty took the chance to head back to the hotel room, while CreeperPuppy and I went in the sea some more. Despite the chill, it really was refreshing. After some persuasion, (we pushed him in) Dad dived in with us.

Mom and Dad decided to chill together on the concrete beach while the kids showered back at the room.

Even though the pools were exhausting, we had to go to dinner. Our dinner was very delicious with a dessert of ice cream. A perfect way to finish the day.

Well, see you tomorrow! Hopefully I can get CreeperKitty and CreeperPuppy to write a blog post too. But for now, this is Suaram, signing off.
