Off to Scandinavia!

The kids had their last day of school on June 4th and we were all on a plane bound for Europe on the 5th.  This year’s summer trip takes us through Scandinavia for most of the 18 days away from California.

Our flight took us through Paris which provided Nellie an opportunity to exercise her year of French I.  Coincidentally, it also gave Brian a chance to exercise his three years of French I (her accent is more authentic).

The kids were enthused by the idea of ordering and receiving pizza through an opaque door at LAX.  Ever been to an automat?

We arrived in Copenhagen in the late afternoon on Saturday and took the opportunity to stroll through a city park  where we stumbled upon a whimsical production of King Lear.

It was delivered in Danish so it was difficult to follow.  The acting and costumes were very colorful and expressive so it didn’t look much like a tragedy to us.  Still, it’s Shakespeare in the Park!

We also found a playground and continue to be pleasantly surprised that the kids still enjoy them as a way to burn off energy.

It was a lovely but short first day and a great way to kick off the trip.
