Chiang Mai, Thailand; Day 18

We are going to try to get more days of school out of the house (visiting temples, seeing historic sites, etc.) but today was a tablet school day for the kids. 

We did start a new book today.  You may remember that we have read three books as a shared reading experience (Alice in Wonderland, Call it Courage and, most recently, The One and Only Ivan).  Today we started Chapter 1 of From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankenweiler.

This book was a Newberry award winner (back in 1967) and is notable for the age of the protagonists, the relevance of their Adventures and for the fact that it has scholastic worksheets available for teacher support.😉

The only Adventure of note was that Dad was able to cash in one of his Christmas gifts from the kids.  Each of them created a custom date with Dad and today he cashed in CreeperKitty’s trip to Starbucks. 

The Thai version is very much the same in terms of branding, decor and barrista friendliness. The primary difference is related to the menu options. Naturally, we found Mochas, Lattes and Americanos. There were plenty of Frappuccino options too.

What caught Brian’s eye today was something fruity, floral and iced.

If you’ve had Boba tea with the tapioca balls then you’ll have a sense for what the pomegranate pearls feel like after being sucked up the straw and into your mouth. These are smaller and felt more like fish eggs but tasted amazing and really added flavor to the tea.
